Capcom earnings fall; Resident Evil and Street Fighter meet projections
Capcom's saw reduced sales and earnings for the first three months of the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011, despite meeting projections for its major titles.
In its earnings report today, the company said that sales fell to 11,953 million yen, down 37.2% from the same first quarter period last year. Operating income was down 22.9% to 775 million yen.
Strong titles for the period included Monster Hunter Portable 3 (PSP), Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D (3DS), Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (3DS) and Monster Hunter Frontier Online Forward.1 (PC, X360). The latter three achieved projected sales, the company said.
More specifically, Mercenaries sold 400,000 units, SFIV Arcade Edition sold 300,000 units and Monster Hunter Freedom 3 sold 100,000 units, the latter just in Japan.
Capcom forecasts for the rest of the year remain unchanged from the numbers announced in May. The company expects sales of 86,000 million yen and operating income of 12,100 million yen.
