Microsoft Confirms Death of Xbox Special Forces Division
Morito, Izawa and San Roku Maru are no more.
The special campaign page for the Xbox Special Forces Division went missing some time back, causing some to speculate that the three members of the Microsoft promotional team had been restructured. Today, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox Special Forces Division is no more.
Microsoft began the Xbox Special Forces Division campaign in January 2010 to promote upcoming Xbox 360 software. The campaign features three characters, Morito, Izawa and San Roku Maru (the one with the big X for a head), discussing their attempts at securing major titles for Xbox 360. Microsoft released Xbox Special Forces Division commercial spots for games like Final Fantasy XIII and Monster Hunter Frontier Online, and even used the three characters as spokespersons at events.
In a Tweet earlier today at the official Xbox_JP Twitter, Microsoft confirmed that the promotion campaign came to a close at the end of last year. The Tweet was in response to a follower who'd asked what had happened to the three characters.
Here's the Xbox Special Forces Division in one of their final acts, promoting then Xbox 360 exclusive Idolmaster 2.
