HD Monster Hunter Sells Nearly 300,000 Units

PS3 and PSP Dominate software charts, but 3DS continues reign as top platform.

Sony's PSP Remaster series is off to a strong start with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD.

The first HD Monster Hunter game (excluding Monster Hunter Frontier Online) is just a remastered version of a PSP game, but that's apparently good enough for many! Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD topped the sales charts in its first week, selling 287,829 units.

Media Create's software sales chart (as passed along today at 4Gamer) was packed with new PSP and PS3 releases. Coming in at second was Imageepoch's second self-published PSP game, Black Rock Shooter The Game. Below that were more familiar franchises: Gundam, Samurai Warriors, and Dynasty Warriors.

Here's the full software chart covering August 22 through August 28. Publisher, release date and life to date sales are in parentheses.

In hardware, the 3DS saw a major drop from last week, but continued to remain in first place. PS3 saw a slight boost, presumably due to Monster Hunter.

Here's the hardware chart covering 8/22 through 8/29. Last week's sales are in parentheses.
