PS3 took over the Media Create software sales charts this week with a mix of new and old.

The new: Dark Souls. The spiritual successor to the acclaimed Demons Souls sold 279,567 units in its first week, easily taking the top spot. In Japan, the game is PS3 exclusive. The impressive first week total comes despite various bugs that From Software has been working to address.

The old: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. The Limited Box edition of the two Team ICO remakes sold 91,902 units, good enough for number 2. In Japan, the two games were also released individually. On their own, Shadow sold 13,420 units and ICO sold 7,941 units.

Other platforms also saw major new releases in the top 20 in what was a packed new release schedule. MMV's busty ninja action game Senran Kagura sold 52,206 on 3DS. Selling slightly better than that was Gears of War 3, with 56,113 units. A lower priced version of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd debuted at 14,924 units.

Way down in the top 20 was Shadows of the Damned. Electronic Arts' pairing with Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture saw its PS3 version debut at 18 with just 9,145 units. The Xbox 360 version did not place.
