Final Fantasy Type-0 Update

The latest characters, and details on Chocobo breeding, airships and abilities.

Here are some textual details to go along with those billion Final Fantasy Type-0 screenshots we posted earlier. This will presumably be our last look at the game before release, so enjoy!

The latest sub characters, most of whom we introduced in past updates, are Emina, Kazusa, Quon, Mtsuki, Ryid, Tiz and Lean.

Emina (voiced by Rie Tanaka) is a former fellow student of Kurasame and Kazusa. She advanced from student to officer, although she currently does not head up a class. She's popular amongst the guys and girls and is known as a swimsuit collector, although it's said that no one has ever seen her in a swim suit.

Kazusa (voiced by Akira Ishida) is a researcher at the Suzaku school who stands out amongst the other researchers because he has his own unique theories. He's a former fellow student of Kurasame and Emina, and although they do not head off on missions together much, they've not lost their friendship.

Quon (voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu) has the greatest level of knowledge of magic in the school. He doesn't show much interest in anything but magic. He lives for the pursuit of new magic and the ultimate magic.

Mutsuki (voiced by Marika Matsumoto) is a genius inventor who normally walks around with her own self-made bombs.

Ryid (voiced by Masahiro Kobayashi) trains hard with the hope of developing the strength to protect others. He's large because his mother is of Genbu (one of the three rival countries) origin.

Tiz (voiced by Hitomi Terakado) is a mysterious girl who wears the same red cloak as the students of your Class 0. It seems that she may have some connection to Class 0...

Lean (voiced by Kouki Uchiyama) wears the clothing of the Byakko (the main invading country) army and travels with Tiz. He also appears to have some sort of connection with Class 0.

Chocobo Breeding

Your school has a Chocobo Ranch area, shown here:

At the Chocobo Ranch, you can breed Chocobos, pairing two Chocobos to form another Chocobo that can be used on the world map or during the game's strategic world map battles.

To breed Chocobos, you'll have to first catch two Chocobos. You'll find Chocobos running around in the world map. Catch a male and female, then speak to the Chocobo Ranch staff for help in breeding.

Here, you're told that the male Chocobo and the female Army Chocobo, along with a vegetable item, can create an Attack Chocobo.

Once the breeding is done, you'll end up with an egg.

Familiar Monsters

Type-0 has some monsters that you'll recognize from past Final Fantasy games. Below, you'll find screens of Cactuar, Malboro, Tonberry and Iron Giant.

There are actually multiple airships in Type-0. Initially, you'll have access to your school's airship, which periodically travels between preset points.

Eventually, you'll get your own airship, which you can use to freely travel the world. This personal airship is an ancient ship that is guarded by a powerful enemy.

Once you've gotten your hands on your ship, you'll be able to dock it at the school docking grounds. As you fly about the world, you'll come under attack from enemies. Defeat them, and you'll earn gil.

Suzaku Archives

We already heard about your school's Crystarium facility, where you go to power up your characters. The Crystarium is also home to an archive which lets you recap things you've seen in the game -- video clips, characters, summons, enemies and more.

Here are the latest abilities for the Class 0 students:

Eight: Bomb Fist -- burns out most of your stored ability gauge, but does great damage to the enemy.

Jack: Uhh... maybe Heartless Crimson Blizzard? -- This does massive damage to surrounding enemies, but leaves Jack with just one HP.

Seven: Element Wave -- Seven's sword stores magic power and unleashes fire, thunder and water attacks. The elemental ability changes based off your analogue pad inputs.
