Capcom Shipping 420,000 Monster Hunter 3G Units at Launch

Capcom has already said that it expects to sell 1.2 million units of Monster Hunter 3G on 3DS. Just ahead of the game's release, a retailer has provided additional details on Capcom's sales strategy.

According to a post at the Sinobi retailer blog (which provides us with much of our early information from Weekly Famitsu), Capcom's first pressing for Monster Hunter 3G will be 420,000 units. This is split 300,000 for the game's standard version, 100,000 for the Slide Pad bundle, and 20,000 for the 3DS system bundle.

Sinobi notes that Capcom likely had sales of Wii's Monster Hunter 3 in mind when coming up with these shipment figures. MH3 sold 540,000 units in its first two days. However, the game was so heavily shipped that retailers quickly slashed its price. Eventually, the game sold over 800,000 units, but many of those sales came at lower pricing.

Sinobi believes that given the pace of sales for the 3DS hardware, and the first week start for Mario Land, MH3G's initial shipment may be a inadequate. If you want to make sure you get MH3G on day one, you may want to pre-order ahead of the December 10 release date.
