Ken Kutaragi Shows Up at PlayStation Awards
Catherine, Call of Duty, Atelier Meruru, Legend of Heroes and other titles take special awards.
Check out PlayStation father Ken Kutaragi at this year's PlayStation Awards. You'll have to try and ignore the Nico Nico Video chatter.
Here's some of the results midway through the ceremony:
Users choice awards, which are selected by fans at the event's official site, went to Gran Turismo 5, Call of Duty Black Ops, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Katherine, Dynasty Warriors 7, Atelier Meruru, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Tales of Xillia, Dark Souls and Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki.
The newly established World Game Award, given exclusively to games developed outside of Japan, went to Call of Duty Black Ops, LittleBigPlanet 2, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
The PlayStation Store Special Award, given to top selling PlayStation Store games, went to Crazy Taxi, Elemental Monster Online Card Game, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Hatsune Miku Dream Theater 2nd, and Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike Online Edition.
Of course, the "main" awards, which have been handed out since the original PlayStation was first released, are given based off sales. You can probably guess what took the top honors for the year (hint: the next entry in the series is being released on 3DS this week).
The event is still running, with the party phase set to kick off at 6:15 (The one time I attended PlayStation Awards a few years back, they had lamb chops. You may get to see that, and Hideo Kojima, and possibly Hideo Kojima eating lamb chops). See this story for details on how you can watch.
