Nintendo Shares New 3DS Release Dates
Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Girl's RPG and more get final release dates.
Today's Nintendo Direct broadcast had just a handful of new announcements, but there were some big release date revelations.
The 3DS version of Fire Emblem will be released on April 19, CEO Satoru Iwata revealed. The game's official name has been set as "Fire Emblem: Kakusei" ("Kakusei" translates to "Awakening").
Iwata shared first gameplay details for Fire Emblem, showing the game's free map and skill systems. However, he did not make any mention of the download content that was mentioned in Nikkei earlier today. (See this story for details).
Kid Icarus Uprising a last got a final release date. The new take on the classic franchise from Masahiro Sakurai and Project Sora will be released on March 22. The game is currently undergoing final tuning.
Iwata showed the network play options from Kid Icarus. The game supports three on three team play and battle royal play, and is compatible with both ad-hoc and internet play.
Other games getting new release dates included Mario & Sonic at London Olympics, due on March 1, Level-5's Girl's RPG, due on March 8, and Dynasty Warriors VS, due on March 15. Regarding Dynasty Warriors, Iwata announced that the game will have costumes themed around Nintendo characters. Tecmo Koei will have details later.

Iwata also showed trailers for Kingdom Hearts 3D and Bravely Default Flying Fairy, but did not share release date information for these. As announced at Jump Festa last week, Kingdom Hearts 3D is due for release in March. Bravely Default is due for 2012 release. Iwata mentioned a new demo and AR app for Bravely Default, to be released in Spring or beyond.
Only one Wii game was mentioned during the broadcast. Iwata and Yoshio Sakamoto demonstrated Kiki Trick, which comes from the Made in Wario team, at length. This is due for release on January 19.
