Game Industry Revenues Fell 8 Percent in 2011

Mario Kart and Mario Land 3D were last year's best sellers.

Mario Kart was the top game in 2011.

The Japanese domestic game market saw an 8% drop in total revenues in 2011, Famitsu reported today citing stats from Enterbrain. While hardware was up for the year due to the release of new platforms like PlayStation Vita and 3DS, software saw a 14% drop due to a lack of multi million sellers like Pokemon Black & White and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
