The Dynasty Warriors 7 official Twitter was updated today with the following New Years greeting:

"Work started yesterday. We'd like to make a big announcement this year... by the end of the year."

Most numbered Dynasty Warriors games have three installments: the main installment, the Moushouden (known internationally as Xtreme Legends) installment and the Empires installment. DW7 has thus far seen just the first two. The Empires installment has yet to be announced.

Dynasty Warriors 7 was PS3 exclusive in Japan. A PC version, bundled with Xtreme Legends, is due out in March.
