Kazuo Hirai will be promoted to Sony Corporation's president in April, Nikkei reported today. Howard Stringer, current chairman, president and CEO, will become chairman and CEO.

The paper reports that Sony will finalize the change at a February board meeting.

Hirai's current official position is Representative Corporate Executive Officer and Executive Deputy President, a position he gained in April of last year.
