Wii U debuted at E3 last year. The system will show its true form at this year's show.

Bloomberg Japan reports that Nintendo will release the Wii U this holiday season in North America, Japan, Europe and Australia. CEO Satoru Iwata announced the more specific time period during an earnings conference in Osaka today.

Iwata also spoke about the 3DS, saying that Nintendo plans on continually releasing major titles for the system. Through these and other measures, Nintendo hopes to return to profitability early in the upcoming fiscal term.

Iwata's statements came following an earnings report in which Nintendo slashed sales and earnings forecasts, and also reduced shipment targets for Wii and 3DS. See this story for details.
