Konami announced today that it will end service for Metal Gear Online on the game's fourth anniversary, June 12 of this year.

MGO is an online game that was based off Metal Gear Solid 4's engine and gameplay systems. It was bundled with MGS4, which saw release on June 12, 2008, but was later given solo releases.

In a statement at the game's official site, Konami said that the game was originally planned on operating for three years, but due to fan support, service was extended until now.

To mark the end of service, Konami will be holding special events. Konami promised further updates via a newly opened official Twitter account.
