Nintendo Killing Wii no Ma Service

Combination video, shopping and direct advertising service comes to an end in April.

Nintendo announced today that it will be ending the Wii no Ma service. The Wii-based service will be killed for good on April 30.

Wii no Ma was first started on May 1, 2009. Nintendo describes the service as a "new style of ad service" which brings together sponsors and consumers. Following its initial launch, the service was updated with a Home Theater section in November 2009, offering free and paid videos, and a Shopping feature in November 2010.

Nintendo says that the Wii no Ma program saw 4.49 million downloads and has over 8.11 million users.
