Sony Computer Entertainment said today that it will acquire California-based cloud gaming company Gaikai. The acquisition price will be 380 million dollars.
In a statement, the company said that it hopes to use the acquisition to establish a new cloud service. "SCE will deliver a world-class cloud-streaming service that allows users to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices," said SCE CEO Andrew House.
Sony did not outline specific plans regarding how or if it will integrate the service with PlayStation products.
