Yamauchi Talks Gran Turismo 6, Gran Turismo Vita in China
Producer speaks to local media at China Joy event.
Sony Computer Entertainment is displaying product at the China Joy game event in Beijing this week. On the event's first day yesterday, the company held a Gran Turismo 5 event, and even flew in series producer Kazunori Yamauchi for a signing and press Q&A session.
As reported at Impress Watch, Yamauchi fielded a couple of questions about two possible future installments in the series, Gran Turismo 6 and Gran Turismo Vita.
Regarding GT6, Yamauchi said that he's been working on the framework for the game since immediately after work on GT5 finished. He later added regarding GT6, "We're always aiming for the latest technology and the latest expression."
On the possibility of a PlayStation Vita version of Gran Turismo, Yamauchi said, "If we were to make it, we'd like to make use of the ability to play anywhere and the ability to use 3G at any time."
Local media were interested in Shanghai Circuit being represented in the GT series. Yamauchi said that he was scheduled to visit the circuit the following day (7/27) and would be considering what elements could be used in a game.
Yamauchi was also asked about the possibility for MOD-like functionality in GT5, allowing players to freely make modifications. He responded, "If we can find a good balance, we'd like to increase the areas where users can make modifications."
