Weekly Sales: Persona 4, Nayuta no Kiseki Join Mario at Top

New Super Mario Bros. 2 was last week's top seller with, as reported earlier in the week, 430,185 units over its first two days of sales. The Mario sequel was just one of a flood of new high profile releases.

Debuting in second place was the PS3 version of Persona 4 Arena with 117,318 units. The Xbox 360 version charted at 20, with 9,346 units.

Falcom's latest PSP Legend of Heroes title Nayuta no Kiseki debuted in third place with 83,836. This is lower than Legend of Heroes Ao no Kiseki, which debuted in September of last year with 127,938 units. (See the sales charts here.)

Just Dance 2, once again fully localized for the Japanese market by Nintendo, debuted with 61,382 units. This too was lower than its predecessor, which sold 90,039 units in its first week in October of last year. (See the sales charts here.)

Super Dangan Ronpa 2, Spike Chunsoft's PSP sequel which scored high marks in Famitsu, sold 59,112 units in its first week. This is a big leap from the 25,564 units that its predecessor sold in December of 2010. (See the sales charts here.)

Rounding out this week's major new releases was Demon Training, the first 3DS entry in the Brain Age series. Released opposite Mario and the 3DS XL hardware, this sold 46,528 units over its first two days of sales.

Like Mario, Demon Training had a download version available at the 3DS e-Shop. Enterbrain's sales figures do not include download sales, but it's unclear of this also applies to the download codes that are sold at some retailers.
