Resident Evil Retribution Producer Says Monster Hunter Flick in Planning
Western director apparently a fan of Japan-focused franchise.
Monster Hunter may be the next Capcom property to get the Hollywood treatment, and Resident Evil Retribution producer Paul W.S. Anderson may be involved.
In an interview about Retribution, which hits Japanese theaters on September 14, Cinema Today asked Anderson what game he would like to next convert to film form. Responded Anderson, "Recently, I've been loving Monster Hunter! A film conversion is currently in planning."
It's unclear if Anderson is saying that he's planning the conversion, or if Capcom has partnered with someone for a conversion. It's also possible that Anderson is saying that he's thinking up ideas for a movie conversion, but hasn't received an actual green light for production.
