Date Set for Halo 3 ODST
Japanese version arriving simultaneous with American counterpart; Collectors Pack also on the way.
Microsoft shared final release information today on the domestic release of Halo 3: ODST.
The Halo 3 followup will arrive on September 24, priced at ¥7,140. This makes it a pretty much simultaneous launch with its US counterpart.
As with the American version, Microsoft will be releasing the game here as part of a special edition. Called the Halo 3: ODST Collectors Pack, this package includes a standard copy of the game along with a Halo 3: ODST Special Edition version of the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller. Microsoft has set this at open pricing.
Different from the US version of the Collectors Pack, which is limited to a single retailer, the Japanese version is a general release. However, it will only see one printing, so those who want all the Halo 3 swag should take care to pick it up at launch.
Also matching an overseas promotion, Microsoft is offering Japanese players a free bonus code for playing as Sgt. Johnson in the game's new Firefight co-op mode. Here in Japan, this bonus does not require a pre-order, but will only be given to early buyers.
Microsoft will also be staging its beta test program for Halo: Reach in Japan. Those who buy ODST will get a chance to beta test Reach, which is due for release in Fall 2010. Details on the beta program will be announced in a future update.
