Lunar PSP Remake Gets Soundtrack Bonus

Composer Noriyuki Iwadare was so excited that he bought an ocarina.

Love yourself some Lunar music? Then you'd better rush to retail on the day of the upcoming PSP remake's launch, as publisher Gung Ho has a soundtrack bonus item in the works.

Titled Lunar Harmony of Silver Star Limited Soundtrack, the soundtrack features classics Lunar tracks in PSP-arranged form as well as three piano tracks that were specifically prepared for the soundtrack.

Those who have been keeping up with the Harmony of Silver Star announcements might feel like they've heard word of a soundtrack bonus for the game before. Gung Ho previously announced the soundtrack as a pre-order bonus. Now, it's just a regular old bonus with no need for pre-ordering. It will be given away on a first-come basis at retail.

Gung Ho also offered a first look at the soundtrack's jacket today. Character designer Toshiyuki Kubooka has created a special drawing for the jacket featuring a recognizable scene of heroine Luna aboard a ship.

Lunar series composer Noriyuki Iwadare shared a statement today regarding his work with the new title. He joked that upon hearing about the remake, he wanted to make the best soundtrack possible, and so the first thing he did was buy an ocarina and start practicing. He described the game's music as being a renewal that preserves the melody and composition of all the songs. Fans can also look forward to new songs.

Outside of the soundtrack, Gung Ho provided a bunch of screenshots showing off the game's battle system. Unfortunately, as with past updates, the publisher seems to think the PSP's image resolution is 290 x 164, so you won't get to see the screens in their full resolution.

In addition to a new scenario centered around the Four Heroes, players can look forward to a number of new illustrations, one of which is shown here:

The PSP remake of Lunar is set for release this Fall. For players outside of Japan, Xseed has announced a stateside release for the Fall as well under the name Lunar: Silver Star Harmony.
