Sengoku Basara 3's Faces, Producer Kobayashi's Lunch
This is what happens on Sundays, when there's no news for some reason.
You might have already seen the latest Sengoku Basara 3 (aka Devil Kings 3) screenshots, as they were posted to this site on Friday. Gpara pointed out something about the screens that I thought I'd mention.
Right after Sengoku Basara 3's original announcement, before Nikkei leaked word of a Wii version, and before the game was announced to be multiplatform, Capcom issued a press release stating that the game would make use of a facial animation technology called AniFace. Developed by Kyoto-based ATR, the technology allows content makers to more easily create lip synched facial animation.
The latest screens are apparently meant to show off the facial animation. According to Gpara, event scenes and movies make use of motion capture and the new facial animation to deliver higher quality cinematic visuals when compared to past Sengoku Basara games.
Unfortunately, it's a bit tough to get a sense for facial animation through still pics, but here you go:
It's not much of an update, for sure, and to make up for it, here's a pic of producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi's lunch from Friday:
He writes on the Sengoku Basara 3 developers blog that he took the shot at a Tempura restaurant.
That post is also about an upcoming Sengoku Festival event down in Kyoto where Kobayashi and some of the Sengoku Basara 3 voice actors will speak.
