Square Enix is the new Japanese publisher of the Call of Duty series, but so far all they have to show for it are budget versions of the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare. That's going to change in just a couple of months as the company delivers Modern Warfare 2 to Japanese audiences.

The company announced today a release date of December 10 for the highly anticipated sequel. Pricing for both the 360 and PS3 versions is set at ¥7,980. The game has been given a D CERO rating.

A PC version of the game is also set for release through Square Enix. That version still has its original Winter time frame.

Those who just can't wait until December may want to look into importing. North America and Europe will see the game a bit in advance on November 10.

Square Enix has been giving Modern Warfare 2 somewhat of a big push here. The title featured prominently in the company's Tokyo Game Show booth. Those who could not attend the show can see the TGS trailer at the game's official site.
