Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Announcement Incoming?

Leaked images suggest an announcement of the sequel at tonight's Poka Poka Airu demo event.

There are a few rumors going around that Capcom will be announcing Monster Hunter Portable 3rd tonight. The rumors are backed by a solid-looking leaked magazine scan, presumably from this week's Famitsu (due out on Thursday, but leaking out as always a few days in advance), showing illustrations for new Japanese-style male and female startup armor.

So what's so big about tonight? Capcom is actually holding a Tokyo demo event for the PSP's next Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Diary Poka Poka Airu Village. That spinoff title was announced late last year following Monster Hunter 3's release, but we've heard little about it since.

You can read details on tonight's event here.

I'm not sure of the source for these other details, as they're not in the leaked image, but there's some talk about Monster Hunter Portable 3rd taking place in "Yukumo Village," which, like the revealed armor, has a Japanese taste. Additionally, it seems that the game will feature a new onsen facility. The magazine also apparently has details on three new monsters and mentions the appearance of a number of older monsters. A release is scheduled for the end of 2010.

As for tonight's attraction, the same sources mention an August release.
