Date Set For Monster Hunter Spinoff
Capcom announces a final release date and a surprise price for Monster Hunter Diary.
Capcom announced today a final release date of August 26 for Monster Hunter Diary Poka Poka Airu Village. The game will carry a price of ¥3,990, well below the standard PSP price point of ¥5,040.
Coinciding with the release date announcement, Capcom detailed a number of promotions that it will be holding for the game.
Buyers of the first print run will get a product code for downloading an original Airu Village custom theme for the PSP. This includes a wallpaper and icons themed around the Airu creature (known as Felyne in the overseas Monster Hunter).
Capcom will also hold a buyers campaign that celebrates the game's tie-up with Sanrio's Hello Kitty franchise. The first print run of the game will include a flier containing a campaign code. Input this code at a special campaign site from between August 26 and September 30, and you'll be entered into a contest to win one of 50 Kitty Airu or 50 Airu Kitty stuffed animals and one of 1,000 original Airu straps. The stuffed animals were made exclusively for the campaign and will be very rare, Capcom says.
Outside of these promotions, Capcom will also be pushing the game through an original Flash animation that will be broadcast on television some time this summer. A manga also debuted in this month's V Jump comic/games magazine this past Friday. See the game's official site for more details.
Capcom promises even more promotions as Airu's starring debut approaches.
