Sony Shares Domestic Release Plans for Move

Pricing and release date set. Charging unit and gun attachment on the way as well.

Sony Computer Entertainment shared today final release details for its PlayStation Move Motion Controller peripheral.

The control device, which gives the PS3 Wii-like motion controls, will be available in Japan on October 21. The main motion controller unit will sell for ¥3,980. The optional Navigation Unit, equivalent to the Wii's Nunchuck, will sell for ¥2,980.

To actually use Move for motion control games, you'll need a PlayStation Eye camera. This is already available for PS3 in various software packages. Those who do not have the camera will be able to purchase it separately on the 21st for ¥2,980. This is the same model CEJH-15001 camera.

Sony is also readying a "Starter Pack" bundle for October 21. This ¥5,980 bundle will include one Move Motion Controller, a PlayStation Eye and a copy of Sing and Draw, an upcoming Move title.

Buyers will want to be on the lookout for some official peripherals to complement these peripherals. Sony will sell a charging stand for ¥2,480. This can charge two devices -- either Move or the Navigation Unit -- simultaneously. A release for this is set for the 21st.

For those who wnat to use Move in shooting games, Sony will also offer the Move Shooting Attachment. This will be priced at ¥1,480, although a release date has yet to be set.

For precise specifications for all these devices, see Sony's newly opened Move portal site.
