Square Enix made formal announcement today of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for Japanese release. The Xbox Live Arcade title will arrive here on August 18, priced at 1,200 Microsoft Points.

For overseas players, Xbox Live Arcade releases tend to be worldwide simultaneous, so you can probably expect the game around the same time.

This offshoot of the Tomb Raider series follows Lara on a search for the Mirror of Smoke in a ruins known as the Temple of Light. The game changes up the formula from the main Tomb Raider series, with the action taking place from a quarter view and the inclusion of two player cooperative play.
