Mikami and Inaba Push Vanquish at Tokyo Game Show Stage Event
New demo and pre-order bonuses detailed.
Vanquish director Shinji Mikami and producer Atsushi Inaba were in attendance on the first public day of the Tokyo Game Show to give the upcoming PS360 action title a push at a stage event.
As reported at 4gamer, the two focused on three particular areas of the game: AR Mode, close range attacks and Casual Auto mode.
These have all been detailed in past updates. AR Mode is a "bullet time" slow motion mode which lets you take precise aim of enemy weak points. Casual Auto is a difficulty mode designed around players who may not be particularly skilled at action games. In this mode, the game automatically targets enemies for you. Mikami and Inaba suggested that everyone try out Casual Auto mode, noting that it actually feels pretty nice even for pro action players.
Outside of these gameplay details, the two shared some development secrets. One of the principal gameplay elements of the game is your boost ability. While this is officially known as "Boost," Mikami revealed that it was originally called "Sliding."
The two also detailed some of Sega's upcoming promotional plans for the game, which is set for October 21 release here. The biggest revelation is that the game will be getting a second demo. This is titled "Vanquish Challenge Mode," and promises to offer a greatly different experience from the currently available demo. The demo will be released on the 22nd.
Sega is also pushing the game through two commercials, which were shown during the stage, and a pre-order bonus. Those who pre-order will get a download code for three weapons.
