PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.50 Hits Today

Watch 3D Blu-rays, hook up with Facebook, and complain about spam.

Sony made available version 3.50 of the PlayStation 3 firmware today.

The major feature for this update was a surprise announcement at last week's Tokyo Game Show. A month ahead of schedule, the firmware updates the PS3's Blu-ray playback to support Blu-ray 3D spec discs.

Two additional features made it into the update. You can now easily report users when you receive spam messages. Additionally, you can now select to give games access to your Facebook profile information. This feature can be toggled in the PlayStaiton Network -> Account Management -> Facebook section of the XMB interface.

Full details on the Version 3.50 firmware can be found here.
