Capcom Makes Big 3DS Push
Mega Man Legends and a second Resident Evil game join the lineup. Plus, first details on Super SFIV and Revelations.
Capcom showed its full backing for the 3DS today with the announcement of two additional projects for the system. Joining Resident Evil Revelations and Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition are Rockman Dash 3 Project (Mega Man Legends 3) and Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D.
Here are the details and media Capcom shared on all four games today.
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Ediiton
That's the new final name, mirroring the "Arcade Edition" of the arcade version of Super SFIV.
Visit the official site for a new promotional video which promises 35 fighters and two major gameplay components:
- "Figure Collection"
- This new feature uses Tag Mode to make your collection of figures automatically fight against players you pass by on the street. When your figure set wins battles, you earn more figures.
- Arcade Machiuke
- This is the arcade wait mode from the home versions of SFIV and Super SFIV. It's a similar concept here. As you're playing single player, you'll be interrupted by other players in the area. Capcom's trailer video only shows local play.
Rockman Dash 3 Project
Capcom announced that development has started on the latest Rockman Dash, aka Mega Man Legends, game. In a message distributed to the press, Capcom head of development Keiji Inafune said that development was decided upon following strong player demand for a sequel. Actual details on the game will be announced at New York Comic Con next month in America.
The game's newly opened official site lists the game as a "free running RPG" for single players (although the site notes that the player count could change). The site currently contains just a video message from Inafune and a staff blog from director Eguchi Masakazu.
Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D
The "Mercenaries" mode from Resident Evil 5 is being converted to 3DS using the MT Framework Mobile development tools. The game will support Wi-Fi to allow players throughout the world to team up for co-op play. The game's genre is listed as "Survival Action."
Resident Evil Revelations
This latest entry in the Resident Evil series is a true Resident Evil game telling a new story involving Jill and Chris and the BSAA and allowing players to experience fear in 3D. As with The Mercenaries 3D, this uses the MT Framework Mobile development tools. Capcom lists the genre as "Survival Horror."
