Another Century's Episode Bumps Monster Hunter From 1st Place
Capcom title falls to second for first time since release. Are PSP shortages to blame?
Game sales saw a major slow down last week. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd was included in this trend, leaving Media Create's top slot open to something new for the first time in over a month.
Another Century's Episode Portable stepped in to fill the top spot with 70,217 units in its first week. While 70,00 was enough for first place this week, it's about a third of the 219,000 units Another Century's R did on PlayStation 3 in its first week in August of last year (click here for that chart).
Also debuting this week in the top 20 were Arcana Heart 3 for PS3 (the Xbox 360 didn't place), and Mass Effect 2 for Xbox 360.
Here's the software top 20 covering 1/10 to 1/16, as reported at 4gamer.

In hardware, PS3, PSP and DS were all vying for the top spot this week. Last week, Media Create reported shortages for the PSP. It's possible that the shortages have continued this week as well, which would explain Monster Hunter Portable 3rd's sudden drop from last week's 133,000 units.
Here's the hardware sales chart for 1/10 to 1/16. Last week's sales are in parentheses.
- 1. PS3: 33,190 (59,612)
- 2. PSP: 29,806 (28,757)
- 3. Wii: 21,291 (56,547)
