PlayStation Vita Release Date Announcement Likely For Tokyo Game Show
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan CEO reconfirms Japan-first release and hints at when we'll get the final date.
Sony's VP Kaz Hirai revealed during a group interview session yesterday that PlayStation Vita will be launching first in Japan later this year. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano provided a hint about when we'll learn the system's final release date: Tokyo Game Show.
In his latest message at the PlayStation Vita Community Site, Kawano reconfirmed his boss's statement about the system's Japanese release being planned for this year. He added, "Once we've set the final release date, we'll let you know. The announcement will probably come at TGS."
TGS will be held this year from September 15 through September 18 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Sony's Shuhei Yoshida and Yoshio Matsumoto are scheduled to give a keynote address devoted to PlayStation Vita on the show's opening day (see this story for details). It's likely the release date announcement will come there.
