3DS saw a huge sales boost in August thanks to its price drop early in the month. Monthly sales figures from Enterbrain reveal that the system sold 384,000 units over the month. This is 2.6 times the system's July total.

The system saw a price drop of ¥10,000 to ¥15,000 on August 11. The price drop was announced a couple of weeks in advance, leading to an expected slowdown in sales. After the drop, though, the system recorded its highest weekly sales total excluding the February 26 launch, and has remained in the weekly sales chart top spot since.

The 384,000 August sales figure is the second highest for the system, behind only March's 430,000 units.
