Sony Promotes Cross Platform Support on PS Vita and PS3

 

Sony announced today a formal name for the various cross platform features used in PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3: Cross Platform Feature. Cross Platform Feature offers cross platform play and other functionality shared between the PS3 and Vita.

Sony mentions five facets of Cross Platform Feature:

Cross-Play

PS3 and Vita players can enjoy collaborative or competitive play. Available games include Hustle Kings, MotorStorm and Wipeout. Upcoming games include Street Fighter x Tekken and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (A Vita version was announced at Sony's E3 press conference today).

Cross-Controller

Use your Vita controller to play PS3 games. Available games include Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PS3/Vita). Upcoming games include LittleBigPlanet2 (PS3).

Cross-Save

Continue play on the go on your Vita from where you left off on your PS3. Available games include BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend, MLB12 The Show and MotorStorm RC. Upcoming games include Sly Cooper Thives in Time, Sound Shapes and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Cross-Goods

Enjoy purchased download content and user generated content on both Vita and PS3 by sharing, transferring or other ways. Available games include Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, MLB12 The Show, Hustle Kings, MotorStorm RC, and ModNation Racers. Upcoming games include Street Fighter x Tekken, Assassin's Creed III/Liberation, Sound Shapes, LittleBigPlanet 2 and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Remote-Play

Vita users can remotely access their PS3 to enjoy content like games and videos. Available titles include BlazBlue and BlazBlue Continuum Shift. Upcoming support for ICO, God of War, God of War II and Shadow of the Colossus.
