Nintendo Experiences Server Troubles on First Day of Full Download Sales

Today was a big day for the 3DS e-Shop, and Nintendo had some trouble early on.

Joining the release of the 3DS LL (known internationally as 3DS XL), Nintendo kicked off download sales of full package games. New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Demon Training, available today at retail, were also released as full downloads through the e-Shop.

While the games officially went on sale at 9:00, it appears that players quickly encountered problems. Nintendo updated its server information page with notice that services related to the 3DS e-Shop were encountering problems.

As of this writing, the problems have apparently been cleared up. The server information page says that the problems ran from 9:00 to 11:30.

Those who opt for the downloadable versions of New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Demon Training can choose to purchase directly from the e-Shop, or obtain codes from retailers. Either way, the games are downloaded to your 3DS from the e-Shop.
